Old town detail with Mirabella
Omiš is a real pearl of Croatia's Adriatic coast - the resort situated between Split and Makarska settled at the mouth Cetina River at the foothill of fantastic mounts. The small town has everything that Croatia's sea could offer: Blue Flag awarded sandy beach, an old town with ambience, several hiking and excursion opportunities and entertainment.

One of Croatia's largest beaches can be found in Omiš - this is the 300 meters long, sand covered, Blue Flag beach Punta with its gravel and sandy shore. Further, smaller, sandy and gravel beaches please bathers on both sides of Omiš: beaches of Duće and the Dugi Rat area on the western and beaches of Brzet, Nemira on the eastern side.

If one would ever get bored with beach life, opportunities to kill some time in the area are almost countless. The most popular attraction is rafting on River Cetina - a dozen or so travel agencies in the old town offer their services of canoe tours. Mirabella and Fortica, the two fortifications above the town are popular walking or hiking targets - for longer tours the slopes and ridges of the Mosor range above and around Omiš are highly recommended. The main entertaining events of the summer season are the Festival of Dalmatian Klapas (acapella singing groups) and the Pirate Battle.

The full spectrum of accommodation options starts at exclusive (Plaža, Diadem) and small hotels, runs through large (Galeb) and small, family-run camps and ends with an endless number of private apartments and rooms. Omiš has quite a choice for shopping, as well: the Studenac center is a mall, then there are supermarkets, specialty shops in the town. Most of the restaurants and bars are situated in the old town area.
